TSSA says bus company got it wrong on veil ban

TSSA was dismayed to read the story on the BBC website of two women who were not allowed to ride a London bus because they were wearing veils, on grounds that they perceived to be ‘a threat to other passengers’.

Union leader Gerry Doherty said the union supports a multicultural society in which women are free to wear whatever they choose and travel on public transport safely.

"I would urge the bus company Metroline and Transport for London to investigate this complaint as a matter of urgency and publish its equal opportunities policy widely to staff."
