Transfer to Arriva Trains Wales
The transfer will take place on or about 7 December 2003, the reason being that Arriva Trains Wales Limited has won the Wales and Borders franchise.
It is intended that TUPE applies to transfer the contracts of employment and statutory continuity of employees.
We are informed that Arriva Trains Wales Limited does not envisage at this stage that any measures will be taken in connection with the transferred employees but there will inevitably be a period of review following the transfer.
As it is not envisaged that any measures will be taken in relation to the transfer, both Wales and Borders Trains and Arriva Trains Wales believe that no consultations are necessary.
With Arriva commencing operations from 7 December, the existing contractual arrangements for support services with Wessex Trains as a fellow National Express company are being terminated. For example, Wessex Trains have made other arrangements for payroll facilities, formerly provided by Wales and Borders at Cardiff.
The call centre at Truro has re-opened as a dedicated customer service department for Wessex Trains, with the telephone bookings transferred to the National Express -QJump- call centre in Sheffield.
