Pay Claim 2010

Your union after some delays met with the company on 24 June 2010 to discuss this years pay claim. At this meeting management were quite clear that the likelihood was that as they would be subject to the Civil Service pay freezes imposed by the new Government.

We have now received written confirmation dated 26 July that this position is correct. Therefore that BRB Residuary, as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Secretary of State for Transport is subject to the Civil service Pay Guidance and has been included in the Government’s recently imposed two year Public Sector pay freeze for 2010 and 2011.

We have also requested that management consider bargaining arrangements for all staff (excluding board members and senior staff) as well as Property Board members in order to negotiate pay and conditions in future. Management has assured us that this matter will be raised for the attention of the DfT to consider this.

I would request that any members who have any comments or feedback regarding this matter to please contact me via email at the address below. Despite the indication of a two-year pay freeze TSSA will continue to lodge an annual claim for next April 2011 as usual in order that all pay and conditions can be discussed.

If you know of any colleagues who are not a member of a union now is the time to join, with increased uncertainty for job security you are well served by the Transport Salaried Staffs Association.
