Reps Training Seminar

At Annual Conference held in Dublin May 23rd to 27th the following amended resolution was approved.

That this Conference notes the success of the recently established annual representatives’ events. Conference recognises that the current Branch structure and decision-making processes, including Annual Conference, are not fully meeting the need to ensure democratic participation in the affairs of the Association, given the small percentage of members and reps who actively participate.

Conference instructs the EC to consider how the Association’s democratic structures and processes can be improved upon, the costs of Annual Conference and the reps’ seminar and present a report and any appropriate rule changes to the 2011 Annual Conference for its consideration.

At its meeting in June the Executive Committee agreed that

TSSA branches and Reps be consulted for their views on this issue. The Management Team will prepare a report on the costs of Annual Conference and the National Reps Training Seminar for the detailed consideration of the Audit Committee. The Audit Committee to consider the report and report back to Executive Committee. Any report and any rule amendments considered necessary to be presented to 2011 Annual Conference.

The Executive Committee is seeking the views of Branches, SOGs and Divisional Councils and Reps on how the Association’s democratic structures and processes can be improved upon. If you have any comments or views that you wish to express can you please let the undersigned have them by September 30th. When you send in your written comments sending an email copy would be very helpful.
