TSSA Learning Team: Adèle Potten-Price

“I have previously worked in the education sector for many years and have also been active in various union roles including union learning rep [ULR], branch secretary, regional executive and trades council executive. My specialist expertise is in Skills for Life (literacy, numeracy and IT) both in college and through other providers.

Although originally from the south I moved to the north midlands some years ago and feel that this is home. I also have family in Cumbria and so know the west coast quite well!

I passionately believe in education and the benefits it can bring to all aspect of our daily life. I am proud to be part of TSSA’s commitment towards ensuring all our members get the chance to improve and develop their own learning and themselves. Learning isn’t just about the qualifications to do your existing or possible future job but is also about other skills and ability.

I will be supporting regional organising teams, ULRs and reps in companies across the region to develop teams of TSSA learning reps. I will be on hand to provide advice, guidance and support on any & everything to do with learning. This will include:

 support for negotiating learning agreements,
 putting together strategies around, and, getting involved with, hands on recruitment and development of ULRs,
 support for ULRs sitting on steering groups
 help for ULRs seeking to negotiate the best deal with learning providers (including sourcing funding)
 assisting ULRs to work with our members to get them involved in the whole learning agenda.”

Initially Adele will be working part-time (Monday – Wednesday) and will be concentrating on East Midlands Trains, London Midland, Cross Country and Virgin. Although she will always be available for support to anyone with a query. Please contact her on either;
