A meeting was held recently between the HQ Personnel Manager and TSSA to discuss developments regarding the downsizing of BRB (Residuary) Limited. We were advised that the contract for the remaining estate management and sales work (except plans and records) had been taken over by Lambert Smith Hampton with effect from 1 July 2001.

As a result it was indicated that a number of Post Withdrawal Dates scheduled for 30 June 2001 were extended following consultation with the staff concerned. This particularly affected those staff who will be involved with the management of the outsourced contract whose dates had generally been extended to 31 March 2002. In addition we were informed that a small group of staff involved in traditional downsizing work had received extensions of their post withdrawal dates until September/October.

BRB (Residuary) Ltd. advised that it was still intended that the Records Centre at Portchester Road would close on 31 March 2001 on completion of the current contract. It was also indicated that a review will be carried out in due course in order to establish the ongoing requirements and size of the residual organisation. We were informed that it is envisaged that apart from the small number of staff who are on longer term retention contracts it is envisaged that the downsizing of BRB (Residuary) Limited will have been completed by next Spring.

We were advised that members aspirations have been taken into account as far as possible when post withdrawal dates are determined and that redundancy packages are recalculated to take into account the later than expected leaving date.
