As a result of a resolution carried at TSSA’s 2006 Annual Conference, we explored the possibilities of twinning with a suitable trade union in a developing country with a view to sharing experiences and offering mutual support and guidance. In 2008 this resulted in TSSA entering into a twinning agreement with our sister Zimbabwean rail union ZARWU (Zimbabwean Amalgamated Rail Workers Union).

There is regular contact between our organisations including officials from ZARWU visiting TSSA Annual Conference. In June 2011 Joe Kavanagh (TSSA Executive Committee) will represent the Association at ZARWU’s Congress in Bulawayo.

Below you can find information on TSSA’s twinning partnership and links to some other relevant organisations:

  • ACTSA (action for Southern Africa) is a membership organisation campaigning with the people of southern Africa for justice, democracy and development in the region. TSSA is affiliated to ACTSA and encourages Branches and members to join too. More details available at: http://www.actsa.org/page-1002-AboutUs.html
  • ZCTU (Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions) is the umbrella body of all labour unions in Zimbabwe. More information about the work of ZCTU and its affiliates (including ZARWU) can be found at: http://www.zctu.co.zw/
