Bus Eireann Pay claim update

25 May 2018

TSSA along with the other trade unions meet with the company 24/05/18 to try and map out a route to get a pay award for members in the company.

We reminded the company of the lack of a pay award since 2008 and also the significant contribution staff have made since then and in particular as a result of the labour court agreement last year. Your pay award is now long overdue.

As result of the meeting we now have agreed for meaningful discussions to take place from 17 June onwards.

The process will involve the review process as set out in the labour court agreement from last year and to achieve an increase to basic pay.

We are conscious that these talks need to be genuine and meaningful. It is now time that your sacrifice is recognised.

We were not surprised to hear from the company that the financial situation is still precarious. However we pointed out to the company the days of looking to staff to pay for the gap in funding from the Department and NTA are over.

We continue to call for the funding to be increased and expect the company to do likewise in its dealings with the Department and NTA.

Below is a copy of the correspondence for the company at the conclusion of our initial meeting, we hope the words are meet with deeds as we go forward.

Bus Éireann Management recognise that a review of pay across all grades of staff now needs to be considered.

All parties acknowledge that the Labour Court Recommendation provides a mechanism to review aspects of Pay and Conditionsat the Company.

The Company will engage in reviewing existing pay rates for all grades on the basis outlined in the Labour Court Recommendation. Bus Éireann will reserve the right to place items on the agenda on a Grade by Grade basis as a component of the overall review.

Management acknowledges the difficult decisions made by staff to support the Company and are therefore prepared to enter into meaningful dialogue whilst remaining cognisant of the ongoing financial challenges faced within an ever changing public transport landscape.

All parties, without prejudice to their respective positions, will now engage to progress the above week commencing 17th June, 2018.
