2011 Pay Claim

25 July 2011

Following a protracted period of negotiations, a 3-year agreement covering all frontline staff with a 1 April pay anniversary has now been reached with London Midland. The full details of the agreement are as follows:

Pay & Allowances

  • Year 1 (2011-2012) - With effect from 1st April 2011 an increase of 4.5% on basic pay and associated allowances.
  • Year 2 (2012-2013) - With effect from 1st April 2012 an increase of 3.0% or February RPI (as announced in March 2012), whichever is the greater, on basic pay and associated allowances.
  • Year 3 (2013-2014) - With effect from 1st April 2013 an increase of 3.0% or February RPI (as announced in March 2013), whichever is the greater, on basic pay and associated allowances.

Additional Productivity and Flexibility

The agreement also allows for further increases to be paid for improvements in productivity and/or flexibility subject to additional negotiations taking place within specific grade groups. This process has already taken place with the Senior Conductors and Conductors grade group, and the result is currently subject to a referendum of affected staff.

Queen’s Jubilee June 2012

An additional day’s annual leave will be granted in recognition of the Queen’s Jubilee. Hours worked will be at a basic rate and leave taken will be at basic rate.

Olympics and Paralympics 2012

The Company has given a commitment to hold separate negotiations to address the service requirements for all operations during the Olympics and Paralympics, with a view to concluding these discussions by 31st March 2012.

The Company is currently making the necessary arrangements to pay the increase and any back-pay due in August (with the exception of Senior Conductors and Conductors due to the ongoing referendum referred to above).
