2012 Pay Offer South West Trains

22 March 2013

TSSA can now report that following a number of meetings we have at last received the following ‘final offer’ from South West Trains

The offers is as follows:

Ø 2.5% Increase to salaries.

Ø 2.5% Increase in Regional Allowances.

Ø Introduction of a family & friends concessionary travel scheme

You will recall that previously the company improved its offer of a 1.7% increase to 2.0%, but for salaries only and not Regional Allowances that we also rejected.

The current offer is backdated to the 1st October 2012. Whilst this is a vastly improved offer from the beginning of the negotiations, we feel that it is still unacceptable because it is below the 2.9% RPI inflation figure for August 2012 we use as an indicator for pay rises in the railway industry. TSSA cannot, therefore, recommend acceptance but believe it is now time for members to have their say.

South West Trains is adamant that this is their final pay offer and TSSA are asking you to take part in a referendum to let us know how you think we should proceed. It is vitally important that as many of you as possible participate. If the vote is to reject the offer then members have to decide if they are prepared to take industrial action in order to get SWT to further improve the offer.

TSSA understands this offer falls short of our members’ aspirations. However, if the offer is rejected, to take the matter further we need to show the company that we have the overwhelming support of members to do so.
