Over 85% of TSSA members who voted in our online referendum gave our reps a mandate to accept the company’s improved offer of 2.5% (equal to RPI) on pay and allowances, underpinned by a minimum increase of £650.

Thank you to everyone who voted. We will write to Amey HR to formally accept the offer so that you can receive your backpay for increased salary and allowances from 1 March as soon as possible. Click here for the offer in full (

• 2.5% increase to basic salary plus agreed allowances, with a minimum of £650 underpin. Backdated to the 1st March 2019.

• Acknowledgement that Graduate Scheme members on long term placement in Rail are included in collective bargaining, following a long-running disagreement between Amey and TSSA

• Commitment to a joint meeting to resolve T&Cs issues for Track Alliance staff subject to TUPE “before the end of May 2019”

• Extend the current remit of the Policy meeting to include a section committed to ED&I best practice."

Ferrovial Services sell-off update

The Financial Times have reported that Amey, described as “problematic”, have been carved out of the Ferrovial Services Division which is up for sale.

The FT suggest that Amey will be put up for sale if and when Birmingham council agree a settlement of the Birmingham Council PFI dispute, having already refused between £200 and £300m to let Amey walk away. Amey have promised to consult our union on developments if a sale takes place.

Track Alliance TUPE update

TSSA has been working to ensure that staff working on the Track Alliance are properly consulted before TUPE transfers due to take place on 6 August. We understand that six new employers (“Transferees”) will be undertaking work currently carried out by Amey; Babcock Rail, Arup and Arcadis in Scotland; Balfour Beatty, TSO and Atkins in LNW, LNE and EM.

We wrote to Amey HR on 26 April to request full details of the impact on staff and are still awaiting a response. (

Although informal briefings have happened, Amey have advised that formal consultation with your reps will not start until week commencing 3 June.

If Amey do not fulfil their obligations to inform and consult properly, affected TSSA members could each be eligible for up to 90 days’ pay.

If you don’t have a TSSA rep in your team, we need your help to ensure we have preps involved in consultation and post-transfer to protect jobs and conditions
