Amey: Dispute Update

5 August 2011

Industrial Action suspended following further ACAS talks scheduled on 17 August 2011 in Oxford

TSSA members who both took strike action and have been contributing to the Overtime Ban and withdrawal of on call have made a real impact on the company. We know that many possessions and various works across Amey have had to be cancelled as a result of the action TSSA members have taken over the last few weeks.

TSSA has been resolute in trying to get the company back around the table and can confirm that as of 16:00 on 5 August 2011 we have had confirmation from Amey that they are willing to meet on 17 August 2011. This has been agreed on the basis of suspending all current industrial action from 17:00 5 August 2011.

We will update members as these talks progress but members should be congratulated on their determination to see this dispute through and achieve an outcome that satisfies all on both pay and collective bargaining.

Never the less we have informed the company of our intention to continue action should these talks not progress in a meaningful way.

Other Important issues

Over the last few days we have had reports from members that senior management in the North in the CEFA contract have been spreading misinformation. Therefore it is even more apparent that we need a TSSA representative to fill the agreed vacancy in CEFA North and enable us to have a 2 way dialogue with TSSA members working in the CEFA contract in the North.

If you would be interested in assisting your fellow TSSA members as a representative then please contact Alan Valentine

Depending on how talks progress we may need to demonstrate strength in members to enable collective bargaining to be widened out. This may be dependent on TSSA demonstrating a high density of members within Amey. It is important that you encourage your colleagues to join a union and they can do this by clicking here
