Amey: Pay Dispute

9 August 2012

Industrial Action ballot will open on Tuesday 14 August and end Tuesday 4 September make sure you vote Yes, Yes.

Ballot opening

As per our last circular Members have rejected the pay offer and expressed their desire to be balloted for industrial action on this and other related issues:

7 days’ Notice of our intention to ballot members within Amey has been sent to the company to allow our Industrial action Ballot to open on Tuesday 14 August and close at noon on Tuesday 4 September. It will be a purely postal ballot conducted by the Electoral reform services so you should expect to receive your ballot form some time next week.

It is important that we send a strong message to the company at the end of the ballot period we will be required to send Amey the outcome of the ballot both in terms of how people have voted and how many people voted.

Therefore it is important that you use your vote and vote Yes for Strike action and Yes for action short of strike, whilst it is important to be prepared to follow through on your vote the stronger the support we have for Yes, Yes the stronger negotiating position that we will have in talks with the company.

What am I being balloted for?

The wording on the ballot paper will be as follows:

A trade dispute exists between TSSA and Amey Consulting\Inter Urban. This relates to:

  • A derisory pay offer for the year 2012
  • The lack of progress on widening collective bargaining across all areas of Amey’s Rail business
  • Lack of progress on resolving issues around staff allowances from our 2012 pay claim

You will then be asked 2 questions around whether you are prepared to vote to take part in strike action and whether you are prepared to take action short of strike. The more people who vote yes to both questions the stronger our position.

Who will be balloted?

In Amey Consulting All members within grades A-C and some Band D grades who retain their collective bargaining rights from before 2011.

In Amey Inter Urban all of our members will be balloted
