Balfour Beatty Rail 2016 Pay Award

23 November 2015

TSSA and your Company Council representatives recently met with Balfour Beatty in regard to the 2016 pay award.

The company made an initial offer of 0.0% which the trade unions rejected. The company empathised that there were financial difficulties within Balfour Beatty and that seven profit warnings had been issued. However, given the strong arguments put forward they undertook to give further consideration to the issue and TSSA has now received a final offer from Balfour Beatty Rail as follows:

· 1.5% increase in salaries and geographical allowances from 1st January 2016.

TSSA and your reps realise that in the current financial situation the offer is a reasonable one and as such is acceptable and are of the view that the deal is of benefit to members. The offer is above the rate of inflation for October 2015 i.e. 0.7%, which is the guideline the TSSA to use to evaluate a pay offer. It is therefore proposed to accept the offer but in the first instance would welcome your views on this matter. Please contact TSSA at before 2nd December 2015.
