Baron House - Joint Statement

7 March 2011

Joint statement issued by TSSA/RMT/National Express following the initial consultation meeting.

"Management and Trade Union officers and workplace representatives of the TSSA and RMT met on 3rd of March and formally commenced the 90 day consultation process on the implications of the proposed termination of the contractual relations between East Coast Mainline and NXSL. The meeting was constructive.

A number of questions were raised by your representatives on behalf of you both collectively, and on an individual basis. Some of these will be covered in a Q&A that we will issue shortly, and others the company committed to take away and to respond at future meetings.

During the meeting the company confirmed that there would be no
forced terminations of employment contracts prior to 3rd June 2011.

The next consultation meeting will be on the 17th March 2011. Following this meeting it is then proposed to start 1:1 discussions with employees on 21st March. In the meantime any urgent issues should be discussed with Emma Vincent (Call Centre Manager) and/or your Trade Uniuon representative."
