Bus Eireann update:

11 January 2017

We are concerned by media reports of plans being considered by the company that will have serious consequences for terms and conditions of our members in Bus Eireann.

We have written to the company seeking a commitment that they will not look to implement any changes to staff terms and conditions unless it is via agreement. If we do not receive this commitment we will ballot members for industrial action.

The issues faced by Bus Eireann are ones that cannot be solved by simply targeting your terms and conditions. It is now time for the Department of Transport and NTA to engage directly with the trade unions around the issues facing the company in the interests of the workers and the travelling public, particularly in rural Ireland where Bus Eireann provides such an essential service.

It has now been 8 years since members of the TSSA in Bus Eireann have had any pay increase. Indeed over this period the opposite has occurred with members in Bus Eireann having a reduction in pay and on other terms and conditions. It is important that in any talks going forward that we do not lose sight of this.

We will keep members updated as we progress.
