Iarnród Éireann BIK vehicles:

10 October 2014

A number of members who have BIK vehicles have raised concerns around the possible removal of BIK vehicles. We have formally written to the company on this issue as out lined below:

I have been inundated with calls from our members suggesting that it is the intention of Iarnrod Eireann to remove BIK vehicles from staff and to Pool them.

I have informed them that as I have not received any notification from the company on this issue that it would only be a rumour; can you please confirm if there is any truth to this rumour?

Can you please also give an assurance that if Iarnrod Eireann would seek to alter our member’s terms and conditions, such as BIK, that it would be dealt through the accepted consultation and negotiation process with the trade unions.

The company have responded that:

All issues in relations to vehicles are currently under review.

However any changes, if there are any will be fully discussed.

It is important that any member approach on this issue should contact their TSSA Rep or the union office. If the company wishes to change the use of BIK they will need to first consult and negotiate with the union.
