BTP merger with Police Scotland on hold for six months

21 February 2018

Responding to the news that the BTP merger with Police Scotland has been put on hold for at least six months TSSA Leader Manuel Cortes said, We all know how difficult it is for public servants to tell their political masters that they've got it wrong.

"Today's postponement of the merger of British Transport Police north of the border with Police Scotland for at least six months is a clear message to SNP politicians. They got it badly wrong and should now bin their reckless and wrecking proposals. For once, SNP ministers should show some humility, eat humble pie and cancel proposals that put passengers at risk.

"I would like to commend the members of the British Transport Police Authority and the Scottish Police Authority for putting public safety first and having the courage to tell their politician masters "No"."
