Bus Eireann National Update

18 February 2013

Ballot papers have been posted to all TSSA members today. The postal ballot should be arriving by Wednesday, 20th February 2013, and the closing date for the ballot is February 28th 2013, the result of the ballot will be announced shortly after.

The ballot is only concerning the recent Labour Court recommendation, see TSSA last circular; there is no other issue on the ballot paper. If the recommendations are accepted by the membership, a “YES VOTE” the company will implement all the recommendations.

If the recommendations are not accepted, a “NO VOTE” the company will be informed, and your national negotiation committee will meet and discuss the next step forward in concert with the other unions.

TSSA are recommending a “NO VOTE” on the Labour Court recommendations, as pointed out in the last TSSA circular, TSSA cannot recommend a cut in core wages and other benefits. TSSA believe that the company have not entered into good faith negotiations, given the recent information regarding the “fuel rebate” and the massive €4. 2 million euro savings to the company, who have to date, constantly stated that the uncertainty of the fuel bill this year was the main driver of the “Business Plan”.

TSSA would also like to congratulate the SIPTU national negotiation team who have recently recommended a NO VOTE to their membership.

TSSA will keep the membership informed. Any member seeking additional advice on this issue please contact the TSSA helpdesk at Freephone 1-800-805-272.
