Bus Éireann Strike Update Day 18

10 April 2017

TSSA members of staff at Bus Éireann are out on picket lines again across Ireland this morning and talks at the Workplace Relations Commission resume again at 10 am this morning.

Said TSSA General Secretary, Manuel Cortes:

"For the last 18 days, my members have been either respecting or standing on picket lines. The Bus Éireann strike now has the dubious reputation of being the longest in my union's 120 history - by a long margin. Only the notoriously bitter British General Strike of 1926 has locked our members out longer. The company could have settled this dispute long ago if they had not walked away from the talking table a month ago. I am hopeful that the callback to the WRC this morning means they have finally decided to cross their ridiculous red lines and end this stand-off with their workforce as they should have done weeks ago."
