Bus √Čireann Business Recovery Plan:

11 September 2012

The TSSA along with the other unions held exploratory talks with the company under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) on Monday 10 September 2012.

The TSSA had been contacted by the LRC directly as it appeared that the parties were heading towards an industrial dispute due to the company writing to the unions and threatening to implement the business recovery plan across all grades on the 16 September 2012. The TSSA was quite clear that any attempt to implement the plan without agreement would result in our balloting for industrial action.
At this meeting it was agreed that a number of items that made up the business recovery plan such as changes to the sick benefit scheme, new pension and new entrants can only be dealt with at CIE Group level.
Listed below are the items that should be dealt with on a Bus Éireann basis:

• Reduction of Self Certified Sickness
• Reduction of Overtime Rate
• Reduction in Premium Payment
• Issues to do with Career Breaks & Part Time Workers, Redeployment &
• Re-training
• The restructuring of Expenses Payment and other allowances
• Reduction in Annual Leave
• Voluntary Severances
• Outsourcing\New Technology\Flexibility Issues

Further meetings have been scheduled for the following dates: 20 & 28 September and 9 & 10 October 2012. Reps from the various TSSA covered grades will be taking part in these meetings.
To help better facilitate these meetings the company has indicated that they will provide more information around costing’s.
Throughout this process the TSSA will continue to keep members informed and consulted with. If any proposals come out of these meetings we will present them to all members and ballot on them by all our members in Bus Éireann
TSSA will update the membership on any new developments on this issue going forward.
