Buyer found for Tata Steel in Scunthorpe

Manuel Cortes: 'I am delighted the joint campaign by steel workers and unions has saved the plant's future, now future track and infrastructure projects must ensure the order books are full'

Responding to news that a buyer has been found for Tata Steel's Scunthorpe plant, TSSA leader Manuel Cortes said:
"I am delighted the joint campaign by steel workers and unions at Scunthorpe has been able to save the plant's future.
"The technology and the worker skills at Scunthorpe combine to make the best, the longest and the safest rail track in the world.
"To ensure its order books are full, the government must now agree to rail union demands that Crossrail and Crossrail 2 projects, HS2 and all other future rail track Infrastructure projects must be required to procure its track from Scunthorpe."
