Proposed Changes to Terms & Conditions of Employment

Since early 2017 your TSSA representatives have been tied up in continued discussion over C2C’s proposals to restructure retail staffs’ contractual T&C’s (Terms & Conditions) of employment. From July onwards an inordinate amount of time was invested on members’ behalf ploughing through all the core elements of employment contracts, reviewing working hours, staff rosters rostering overtime rates, holiday entitlement, job descriptions and allowances alongside other working practices carried out by part-time and full-time staff across stations.

The restructuring process has been extensive but long overdue. Retail Staffs’ existing T&C’s date back to January 1999. These contracts are way out of date following legislative changes and have been the bout of speculation for years with many anomalies which don’t reflect today’s working practices, been open to misinterpretation and have delivered various problems arising from annualised hours.

Your union gave a commitment to work with C2C and negotiate changes where they were felt necessary in our attempt to negotiate a fair and equitable outcome ensuring TSSA members would not be collectively disadvantaged.

Principle Agreement Reached

On 15 January, following counter-proposals made by TSSA resulting in a significantly improved settlement offer, a principle agreement was reached over a revised set of T&C’s for all Retail Delivery Staff with a proposed date of implementation on 8 April 2018. But, the final outcome needs to be agreed by our members before any change will take effect. As such a referendum, carrying a recommendation to accept, will open on 19 February and close on 12 March for TSSA members only. The majority vote will determine the final outcome.

Staff Roadshows

Your TSSA staff reps and members of C2C management will now carry out a staff roadshow across various stations from 6 February. You must make every effort to attend these roadshows, where possible, as it is here you will be provided with a more detailed explanation of the revised T&C’s and you will have the opportunity to voice your individual views directly with your elected reps. Details of these roadshows are being circulated via station email and are accessible on the intranet. Copies of the T&C’s will be shared in due course.

Your say matters. TSSA’s referendum opens on 19 February and closes on 12 March. Anyone who is not a TSSA member doesn’t get a vote. So, here are a few simple things you can do:
