Circular 7 Bargaining for Better Skills Seminar

21 January 2015

TSSA: Bargaining for better skills training seminar from 6-7 March in Birmingham! The two day event pulls together the various strands of Professional & Personal Development in the Workplace and Neurodiversity – areas in which TSSA is leading.

We want to celebrate, review and look to the future of this work in order to widen out the Better Skills strategy in 2015. Places are open to workplace reps, branch, equality and other activists as well as to ULRs and ND Champions.

Our Better Skills Vision in TSSA:

- “Better Rail & other Transport & Travel Companies will grow through building the loyalty & commitment of their staff through a process of assessing long-term skills needs and ensuring that their managers are fully supported to provide access, from day one of employment for all staff, to quality training & development: for current and future jobs; with proper development reviews; mentoring; recognition of skills gained; and structured career paths.”

This training seminar will offer a wide range of introductory & refresher workshops focused on practical action which ULRs, Industrial Reps, ND Champions, Branch activists etc can take to organise around Better Skills at their workplace. There will be sessions ranging from a taster on TSSA’s new training course on Development/ Performance Appraisals to Negotiating on Career Paths, Professional Registration and Apprentices and Neurodiversity Awareness etc. The full programme is set out on web page www.tssa.org.uk/bskills . It will run from 11am on Friday 6 March to 3pm on Saturday 7 March at The Beeches, in Selly Oak, Birmingham. Key political and education sector VIPs will attend and speak at Friday night’s formal dinner – your chance to put your questions on training and skills and other issues direct to the decision makers.

Please apply online at www.tssa.org.uk/coursebookings. There will be support for carer needs – let us know what you need in good time.

Please send in the form by the deadline even if you are still negotiating release to ensure you get a place – there are limited spaces available. Any queries, contact Sal, Kerry or Em on 0207 529 8049 or learning@tssa.org.uk.
