Friday 8 December 2017

TSSA as a trade union has always been ready to engage in pay talks that are genuine and meaningful to find a resolution. However it has been clearly demonstrated thus far during talks that the company continues to feel that any pay rise is based on attacking your terms and conditions and job security.

The responsibility for this dispute lies squarely with the CEO and his management team at Iarnród Éireann. The treatment meted out to staff over the last number of months, and in particular the debacle which occurred at the workplace relations commission last week, has been nothing short of contemptuous and will make a resolution to this dispute even more difficult.

We also strongly encourage members to actively participate in any pickets alongside colleagues from the other trade unions.

Irish and Executive committee commend the comradeship and strong will of TSSA members thus far in fighting to get a pay settlement that fair and reasonable.

The TSSA along with the other unions will conduct reviews on an ongoing basis and may decide to escalate the action by way of increased frequency and duration.

It is an unfortunate consequence that tens of thousands of commuters are now going to be discommoded as a result of the intransigence of Iarnród Éireann.
