DRS TSSA Reps Election: Call for Nominations

17 January 2020

The most recent period of office for TSSA Joint Business Council (JBC) reps came to an end on 31 December 2019, therefore an election process needs to take place.

TSSA invites nominations for the three reps positions it holds on the DRS JBC; two of these will represent the constituency of Management Contract Holders and one will be drawn from the Engineering grades.

Current TSSA JBC reps, Brian Hetherington (MCH), Michelle Hodgson (MCH) and Charlie Birse (Eng.) are all eligible to run for office again, however the election is open to any member of DRS staff who:

· has a minimum of 12 months service with DRS and aged 18 or over;

· currently works in the relevant constituency;

· is supported by three TSSA nominators within the constituency;

· is a member of TSSA.

If nominations are equal to the number of vacancies in each constituency, then those candidates will be elected unopposed. However, should an election be necessary, a secret ballot of all TSSA members within the relevant constituency will be held.

If you are interested in standing for election to be a JBC rep please email Lou George at georgel@tssa.org.uk for a nomination form.

The term of office for the reps’ positions is two years ending on 31st December 2021

TSSA Rep’s Duties

The duties of a TSSA rep are to:

· recruit new members

· promote TSSA’s equality agenda

· maintain high levels of union organisation

· advise members of their rights and entitlements

· to represent TSSA members in grievance and disciplinary disputes

· communicate and meet with TSSA Organisers

· consult and negotiate with DRS on all issues relevant to TSSA members

Paid release will be granted for reps’ duties and any training required by those elected into these posts.

The closing date for completed nomination forms is 12 noon on Friday 7 February 2020.
