First Great Western: Station Staff Clerical and Management members speak up!

Thank you to all those Station Staff Clerical and Management members who took the time to complete the recent referendum ballot on the appalling way that the Company has been treating you. The Company will be left in no doubt what your views are and that if you continue to be ignored actions will speak louder than words.

The indicative ballot

The results speak for themselves in that of those who responded to the referendum ballot 88% indicated overwhelmingly that they reject the Company’s actions, 83% are willing to undertake action short of strike action and 61% would be prepared to take strike action.

Next steps

We will share these figures with the Company and seek an urgent meeting with a view to start resolving the outstanding issues for both grades as soon as possible.

If our request is ignored or those talks do not result in a constructive proposal about how we start to improve relations between us and the Company then we will seriously consider submitting an Industrial Action Notice. This is the first step in instigating the Industrial Action process. It is imperative that should we adopt that course of action that as many members as possible make their views known as we need strength in numbers.

Members meetings

We plan to schedule three meetings in each of the three regions and will advise you of the precise arrangements in due course. In the meantime we would like to invite you all to the next First Great Western East branch meeting which is due to take place on Thursday 20 June 2013 at the General Manager’s meeting room at Paddington Station at 17.30.
