  • qualifications are generally over 12 months
  • are a practically work-based qualification such as NVQ or Diploma
  • give an opportunity to refresh or develop English and Maths skills
  • can contain a Technical Certificate

What are the courses?

The courses will be in areas such as:

  • Business Administration
  • Customer Service
  • Team Leading
  • Management
  • Hospitality
  • Cleaning and Support Services

Jan 2013 deadlineWatch out for the tight deadline!

Learners need to be signed up by January 2013 – so the time to act is now! Get in contact with your learning organiser: http://www.tssa.org.uk/en/Your-union/learning/learning-team/.

Qualifications support job security

There has never been a more important time to look at self development and how increasing work based skills could help with career prospects. TSSA actively campaigns for a better railway both politically and through supporting better jobs & services. However we recognise that with the implementation of the McNulty report comes change, possible redeployment and in some cases future uncertainty

Can your members afford to delay this opportunity?

This special opportunity to gain one of these qualifications free of charge is unlikely to arise again after January 2013. Normally a Level 3 Customer Service course costs approx £3000. And in most cases the learner and/or their employer would be asked to make a contribution to this figure of between 10%-25% of the total amount. [From 2013 this could mean you taking out a training loan on the same basis as Uni students.]

Don’t miss out!
