What do LDC reps do?

Firstly it is important to point out that you will receive paid release to both perform your duties and attend the necessary training that TSSA will provide but you will also receive support both from other trade union representatives and the Full time officer Alan Valentine.

In relation to the role as well as working with other Union representatives, being the point of contact for TSSA in your workplace/constituency and assisting members on an individual basis you will negotiate on issues affecting the staff within your constituency such as:

The arrangement of working hours, Leave, Rosters, link working, local allowances local allowances including travelling time and walking time allowances. You will also assist with the application of agreements reached at other levels of the collective bargaining machinery.

You will also consult on issues such as:

Local performance and business developments, revised working methods, practices and arrangements, Re-organisations within the area of local managerial control; the local effects of wider reorganisations, accommodation and welfare arrangements, local arrangements for implementing company franchise obligations.

In order to fulfil the role it is imperative that you liase with members so that they can both have a say in what decisions are made but are also up to date on what discussions and agreements have been made with local management. All terms of office for these positions run until 31/12/2017

I want to put my name forward

In order to stand firstly the TSSA needs to be clear that you will be representative of the staff and will comply with TSSA rules which is why we ask you to complete a nomination form, sign to say that you will comply with TSSA rules and also get some of your colleagues to nominate you.

Nomination forms can be found online at:

http://www.tssa.org.uk/filemanager/root/site_assets/documents/company_pages/first_great_western/av_151106_ldc_nomination_form_-_final.docx

Or by looking at the online version of the this circular at www.tssa.org.uk/gwr

If you can do this as soon as possible that would be appreciated and we suggest getting the form to Alan Valentine by 9am on Monday 30 November. If we have more than one candidate then we will of course run an election to see which candidate TSSA will stand in the constituency and once resolved we can write to the company and clarify if there are any other eligible candidates in case an election needs to be run for the position.
