You can find a copy of the nomination form via the online version of this circular at

Firstly Thank you to Vincent Young, who up until recently has represented TSSA members on the Stations Divisional council and has recently moved on due to a change in job role. Vincent carried out his duties impeccably and he will be sorely missed on the council.

· Charlbury

· Ealing Broadway

· Hanborough

· Kingham

· Maidenhead

· Moreton in Marsh

· Newbury

· Oxford

· Slough

If you fit within the criteria above you are asked to consider filling this very important role.

What do SDC reps do?

Firstly it is important to point out that you will receive paid release to both perform your duties and attend the necessary training that TSSA will provide but you will also receive support both from other trade union representatives and the Full time officer Alan Valentine.

In relation to the role as well as working with other Union representatives, being the point of contact for TSSA in your constituency and assisting members on an individual basis you will negotiate on issues affecting the staff within your constituency and the Stations function such as:

a) Grade structures, remuneration systems and related terms and conditions of employment affecting employees

b) Promotion, transfer, Redundancy and Resettlement Arrangements

c) To deal, through avoidance of disputes procedure, with failures to agree on collective questions recorded at local level.

d) Agree and review local staff representative constituencies as appropriate.

You will also consult on issues such as:

a) Changes in working practices

b) Implementation of agreements reached by the company Council including discipline, welfare, travel facilities, general medical standards, company employment policies and procedures

c) Arrangements for implementing Company Franchise obligations

In order to fulfil the role it is imperative that you liase with members and local reps so that they can both have a say in what decisions are made but are also up to date on what discussions and agreements have been made with Stations management. All terms of office for these positions run until 31/12/2017

I want to put my name forward

In order to stand firstly the TSSA needs to be clear that you will be representative of the staff and will comply with TSSA rules which is why we ask you to complete a nomination form, sign to say that you will comply with TSSA rules and also get some of your colleagues to nominate you.

Nomination forms can be found online at:

or by visiting the online version of this form at

If you can do this as soon as possible that would be appreciated and we suggest getting the form to Alan Valentine by 9am on Monday 30 November. If we have more than one candidate then we will of course run an election to see which candidate TSSA will stand in the constituency and once resolved we can write to the company and clarify if there are any other eligible candidates in case an election needs to be run for the position.
