Hazards Conference 2019, 26-28th July - Call For Applications

13 March 2019

The 30th Hazards Conference, entitled 'Cleaning Up Toxic Work', will be held at Keele University (near Stoke-on Trent) from 1930 on Friday 26 July until 1230 on Sunday 28 July.

Hazards Conference is Britain’s biggest educational and organising event for trade union safety reps and activists, with a mixture of plenary sessions featuring top headline speakers, as well as debates, meetings and a comprehensive workshop programme.

Conference participants will discuss organising, finding out what is harming members, making the most of the enforcement system, and dealing with risks. It will also be an opportunity to meet other health and safety reps from TSSA and many other unions, share experiences, and learn from each other.

A report from the 2018 Hazards Conference is available online -

This will assist reps to get a flavour of what the conference is all about.

There are only SIX places available for TSSA health and safety reps. Applicants should email Steve Coe (TSSA Organising Director) at no later than noon on Friday 31 May 2019, setting out the reasons for making the application, and how the conference will contribute to their activities as a TSSA health and safety rep.

Successful applicants will be advised no later than Friday 7 June. Preference will be given to those applicants that have not attended before.

Your employer should release you from work with pay should this be necessary for your attendance.

Please note that TSSA will NOT reimburse loss of pay to attend this conference. TSSA will however provide overnight accommodation and reimburse any necessary travel expenses incurred.
