Dublin Bus Industrial Action Continues:

13 September 2016

Sadly both the Department of Transport and the company have failed to offer any return to serious negotiations concerning your pay issue.

The ball is squarely in the court of the Department of Transport and they need to face up to their responsibilities to seriously engage with the trade unions and allow the management of Dublin Bus the resources it needs to deliver a fair and just pay offer.

We welcome the positive response from the majority of the travelling public who recognise the efforts you put into delivering a top quality transport service and the injustice of not having a pay rise for eight years. We should not forget it was your efforts that returned the company to profit.

For Dublin Bus to continue to deliver a world class service The Department of Transport needs to recognise that it requires proper investment and funding not the shoestring levels currently provided when compared to other European cities.

TSSA along with the other trade unions have always advocated that a long term solution to public transport funding is required that not only delivers a good transport service but one that fairly pays its staff.

We continue to be prepared to engage in constructive dialogue with the company directly or via a third party even at this late stage, however the intransigent attitude we face leads us to believe that the further stoppages on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th September we go ahead as planned.

The united front from the Trade Unions on our first action is a reflection of the common desire to achieve a fair pay outcome. It is important that we continue to take decisive action on these days and collectively stand shoulder to shoulder with our sister unions on the picket lines.
