Iarnród Éireann - Update

20 October 2010

The various trade unions at Iarnród Éireann were called to a meeting for a briefing on the current financial situation of the organisation.

The various trade unions at Iarnród Éireann were called to a meeting for a briefing on the current financial situation of the organisation.

Management indicated that the organisation faced difficult times due to the current economic climate and uncertainty leading up to the budget at the end of the year.

Management have outlined that they will seek to have further meetings with the various unions in the coming weeks.

These further meetings with the unions will be to discuss how best to tackle the issues faced by the organisation. No details or proposals were given to the unions.

The TSSA clearly stated that any meetings to deal with these issues would have to have clear guidelines and that TSSA as a union would only engage in a process that sort to protect the job security and terms and conditions of our members.

Once we have further information from Iarnród Éireann we will be communicating this to members. It is now more crucial than ever that as union members we stand together to protect our jobs and our industry.
