Iarnród Éireann update: Labour Relations Commission meeting

TSSA along with the other unions within Iarnród Éireann had a further meeting with the company under the guidance of the Labour relations commission.

This meeting was an attempt to reach an agreement to help deal with the precarious financial challenges facing the organisation.
Iarnród Éireann Management outlined that the company continued to face difficult times due to the current economic climate. The current climate has seen a reduction in revenue due to passenger numbers being down and the decision of the government to reduce the subvention allocated to Iarnród Éireann has also been a significant negative impact.

During the meeting TSSA again outlined that any agreement needed to give commitments to protecting pay and job security for the future.

The meeting looked at issues such as subsistence allowances/expenses, overtime levels, Self Cert days, accrued annual leave, voluntary severance schemes and career breaks.

The TSSA continues too clearly state that we would only engage in a process that sort to protect the job security and pay of our members.

We believe we are not far from a final document and await some clarification from the company. If a final document is agreed the process will then be putting it out to members for ballot.
As soon as any further progress is made we will communicate this to TSSA members in Iarnród Éireann
