Iarnród Éireann: Labour Court

4 April 2014

Following the overall rejection of the Labour Relations Commission proposals on pay and productivity TSSA along with the other trade unions are to attend a labour court hearing on Monday 7 April 2014.

Although TSSA recorded a Yes vote on the proposals we will attend the hearing as it is important we are part of any process that will impact on your terms and conditions.

You may have seen the media reports on the comments made by the minister of transport, Leo Varadkar with threats to reduce further subvention to the rail industry. These comments by the minister are most unwelcome and in the view of TSSA only further add more confusion and anxiety to a complex situation which all parties are trying to find a resolution to.

We believe it would be better for the minister and his department to contribute positively by engaging in a more open and genuine discussion on funding levels that reflect the realities of running a efficient rail network rather than issue threats.
