Jarvis: First Tribunal Finds In Our Favour

On Monday the 22nd of August the first hearing in respect of claims brought against Jarvis was heard at Leeds Tribunal court.

90 Days Protective Award

We are pleased to announce that the tribunal awarded 90 days pay against all three Jarvis companies; Jarvis Plc, Jarvis Rail, and Fastline.

We are still waiting for the exact wording from the tribunal judge, so are unable at this stage to offer full confirmation of the judgement. It is our understanding that all members covered by collective bargaining agreements in Jarvis Rail and Fastline, who were made redundant on the 31st of March 2010, or within the 90 day period following that date, will be covered.

Members employed by Jarvis Plc were not covered by collective bargaining rights, so only those who took out individual claims will be covered.

Before we can confirm this in full we need to be in receipt of the actual order from the courts.

Members need to be aware that any award made is paid from the Redundancy Fund. The payments are capped at 8 weeks pay at a cap of £380 a week. From this any payments received in respect of unpaid wages will be deducted and any Jobseekers Allowance received will be deducted. Payments will also be subject to tax and National Insurance.

All claims must be made to the Redundancy Payments Office, but members are been urged to wait until we can provide full and concise information about the judgement. At that stage we will endeavour to provide full details of who, how and where to make a claim.
