Labour Party conference debate on rail

23 September 2014

Labour to vote on TSSA-led motion on rail ownership

Labour Party delegates will today consider the following motion, proposed by TSSA together with a number of constituency Labour Parties, which notes how "the franchising model and the lack of coherent strategic management across the network and rail services means that profit for the train companies is put before the interests of passengers".

The motion also resolves that "Labour will always act in the public interest, with the public sector running lines if this, on a level playing field, provides best value for passengers and taxpayers."
