TSSA Reject Labour Court Plan by 3 to 1

28 February 2013

The TSSA union has become the first union to reject the Labour Court peace plan at Bus Eireann.

Our 240 clerical and managerial members voted 3 to 1 against the
plan which would have meant longer hours and lower wages.

"This is a clear statement from our members that they will not
be bullied or intimidated by senior management at BE," said
Irish Organiser Jim Kavanagh.

"They are being asked to bear all the pain while those at the
top keep all their gains. It simply won't wash this time around."

A meeting will be held with the other BE unions after March 7
to decide the next step. That is the day that Siptu announces
the result of its ballot.

Manuel Cortes, union general secretary, said: "We still want to
negotiate a settlement which is fair to all sides but our
members are telling management loud and clear-if we have to
fight for justice in the work place we will."

TSSA members voted 73% to 27% to reject the Labour Court plan.
