London Midland: Driver Manager and Conductor Manager industrial action ballot result

The industrial action ballot over the Company’s failure to make you an acceptable offer to your pay and conditions has now closed. The result was overwhelmingly in favour for strike action and action short of strike by both the Driver and Conductor Mangers. The actual results are:

Driver Managers:
Answer to question 1: are you prepared to take industrial action short of strike?
Returned papers: 19
Spoilt: 1
Counted papers: 18
Yes: 18 (100%) of counted vote
No: 0


Answer to question 2: are you prepared to take strike action?
Returned papers: 19
Spoilt: 0
Counted papers: 19
Yes: 17 (89.5%)
No: 2 (10.5%)


Conductor Managers:
Answer to question 1: are you prepared to take action short of strike?
Returned papers: 8
Spoilt: 0
Counted papers: 8
Yes: 8 (100%)
No: 0


Answer to question 2: are you prepared to take strike action?
Returned papers: 8
Spoilt: 0
Counted papers: 0
Yes: 7 (87.5%)
No: 1 (12.5%)


These results send a very strong message to London Midland in that you will not tolerate them treating you less favourably than the staff you manage, and that you are prepared to do what it takes to defend your pay and conditions.

The next step is to discuss and agree what action you will take. We will be seeking your agreement on this later this week with a view to commencing action within the next few weeks.

May I take this opportunity and thank you for taking part in this ballot. You have shown the courage and strength to fight back and demonstrate to your employer they cannot treat you as second class citizens any more.
