London Underground: Progress on FftFS, but pay talks moving slowly

30 September 2015

Whilst it may all seem to have gone quiet, talks with LU management are ongoing as TSSA and sister unions seek a fair deal for members on FftFS, Night Tube and pay

Stations' reps have been in regular talks with management to ensure that commitments agreed at ACAS are upheld and that staffs' terms, conditions and health & safety are protected.

Talks involving Service Control and Trains have been taking place at ACAS to seek a deal over Night Tube, but progress is slow and has stalled in the last week. As a result, pay talks scheduled for last Thursday did not go ahead. We are working to make progress and get pay talks restarted.

Fit for the Future Stations

Following talks at the Company Council sub-group, TSSA reps were deeply concerned that London Underground management was seeking to renege on commitments made at ACAS regarding rosters and associated changes to working practices. This was raised at ACAS talks last Thursday, and LU management agreed to delay local consultation of rosters until these issues were resolved.

Several FftFS meetings have taken place this week to discuss rosters, with signficant progress being made by the trades unions, and new rosters will shortly be released for local consultation. Talks on the Framework for Stations are due to begin next week.

As part of the dispute resolution document agreed at ACAS, TSSA and the other trades unions received the following assurances:

  • Existing full-time CSAs will not be required to work more nights
  • Steps will be taken to ensure that new rosters are comparable to existing roster patterns, particularly in relation to rest days and long weekends
  • Existing arrangements for notice of cover weeks will remain in place, and cover weeks will be in 3 or 4 week blocks

A meeting of local TSSA IR and H&S Reps will take place between 1.30-5.00pm on Thursday, 1 October at Walkden House to discuss rosters, FftFS and other key issues..

Pay and Night Tube

Agreement on the terms of Night Tube has yet to be reached in key areas, including Service Control and Train Operations. Talks at ACAS took place last week, but little progress was made. As LU management insists upon linking the pay settlement to Night Tube, talks on the pay deal for 2015-16 and beyond have also stalled at present. TSSA is seeking meaningful talks on pay and Night Tube as early as possible.

The progress that we have made so far in this long dispute ismade possible only by the continuing strength and unity demonstrated by TSSA and other trade union members in London Underground.

TSSA IR and H&S Reps Meeting

There is a meeting of TSSA IR Reps and H&S Reps at TSSA Head Office, Walkden House, between 13.30-17.00 on Thursday, 1 October.

Release to attend this meeting has been agreed with LUL Employee Relations. If you have any difficulties with release, please contact Mel Taylor, TSSA Organiser:
