Maintenance cuts threaten further train delays

TSSA General Secretary Manuel Cortes, said "Ministers & Network Rail must seriously look at their plans to cut spending on rail maintenance by up to 19% over the next five years in the light of these terrible punctuality figures.

"Cuts of 20% in the past five years have led to constant failings on the long-distance East and West Coast rail routes. Further cuts will mean more misery for long-distance passengers in the future."
