Management & Clerical Reorganisation

We have been notified of the second phase reorganisation within Northern Rail covering Management and Clerical grades. The reorganisation follows the franchise change last April, awarded to the Arriva group. The changes are quite extensive and will impact on a large number of TSSA members.

Initial consultation documents have been distributed to your representatives and we are informed that they are available on the Northern Rail intranet system. Briefings on a team by team basis are also being undertaken. Collective consultation will begin in due course.

The departments affected are:

·       Finance

·       Safety

·       Performance & Planning

·       CPED

·       Engineering

·       Programmes

·       Regions

We have been informed by the company that the overall impact on numbers will be a reduction of 16 posts across the various departments. However, there will be many more individuals displaced and other staff will face changes in terms of job titles, grading, reporting lines, locations and job descriptions / accountabilities.

There is at this stage a lot of paperwork for the reps to work through and they will begin this task over the next few days. Over the upcoming weeks the reps will be in various Northern Rail office locations so you can meet and discuss issues with them. We will notify you of the dates and locations of these meetings when they are organised.
