Mayor says tube ticket offices will close from February

4 December 2014

London Mayor Boris Johnson was criticised by the TSSA today for claiming that tube ticket offices would start closing from next February.

Manuel Cortes, union general secretary, said "Boris Johnson, a former Fleet Street hack, seems to think he can govern London by press release. He is operating under an illusion.

"There has been no agreement yet with the rail unions on ticket office closures or the running of an all night tube service next year.

"We have been negotiating in good faith to reach a fair settlement. It seems that Boris has not. If he wants to pick a fight with the rail unions, he seems to be going the right way about it."
