Network Rail Operations: TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment Regulations) transfer of Gatwick Station Services employees to Southern

TSSA was recently informed by Network Rail of its proposal to transfer its Station Services employees to Southern.

 

Part of the transfer process requires consultation to take place with representatives of the employees – the trade unions. Network Rail has organised an initial meeting with Area Council representatives on 10th November 2011. A joint consultation meeting with Southern Railway in attendance is also needed. This meeting will take place on 18th November 2011, at which assurances will be sought on behalf of our members on a number of issues (listed below) regarding their position after the proposed transfer on 29th January 2012.

 

1) Will employees retain their existing terms and conditions of employment?

2) Will the current collective bargaining procedures with the trade unions be adhered to?

3) Will the final salary Railway Pension Scheme arrangements continue?

4) What is proposed for employees transferring employment to Network Rail?

5) What will happen to travel facilities and car parking permits?

6) Will Southern give an assurance that there will be no redundancies as a result of the transfer?

7) Does Southern use the same payroll system, pay dates and provide weekly payslips?

8) Have new procurement arrangements been decided for materials and uniforms?

 

I will advise members of responses to these questions and any other matters that might arise as soon as possible after the meeting on 18th November.
