Passengers are fed up with wage busting fare increases

15 August 2018

Responding to the news that rail fares are to rise by the rate of July's RPI figure in January, TSSA leader Manuel Cortes said:

“Passengers are fed up with annual fare increases which are outstripping growth in wages. They are paying for a Rolls Royce service but are being taken for a ride on a Reliant Robin. We need to scrap annual fare increases and our Byzantine rip-off fare structure.

“It's clear that since privatisation passengers have become cash cows for greedy private operators. It's time to end this vicious cycle by bringing our railways back into public ownership so we put passengers, not shareholders, first.”
