Pay Negotiations 2013: Update

26 April 2013

The joint trade unions met with Virgin Trains Management to discuss a pay settlement for 2013.

The company considered the submissions from each union and made it clear that they do not wish to discuss any other term and condition except for pay during these talks. They also made it clear that given the current status of the franchise extension they were only prepared to make a one year offer.

The offer put forward by the company currently stands at 3% with the proviso that the issue regarding workbrain and payslips currently pursued by the unions is abandoned. It was made clear to management that this offer did not meet our aspirations.

We agreed to meet again on Thursday 9th May 2013.

Management stated that they had listened to the feedback regarding the introduction of the new uniforms and they were concerned with the volume of issues raised. They are currently in discussions with the supplier and an announcement will be made on Tuesday 30th April to all staff.
