Amey: Pay Update

2 July 2012

Update on Pay talks and thanks to members, your work made a difference.

Members making a difference

Thanks to those members who took part in the email campaign to contact OneHR despite the messages coming from the company it is clear that your efforts have made a difference. As always where members are prepared to stand together the company have no choice but to listen.

As a result of your actions the company quickly suggested meeting on 21 June with both Unions invited to negotiate on pay, so again thank you for your efforts. Unfortunately RMT Reps were not released to attend this meeting and as such that meeting didn’t take place and another date has been scheduled for 10 July.

To be clear there were several inaccuracies in the company briefing that went out to staff entitled “Q&A about collective bargaining for Rail pay discussions 2012”, the main one stating that TSSA had agreed to meet separately for Pay talks is not true and indeed this was a bone of contention during the finalisation of the previous pay talks concluded in 2011.

We have maintained throughout that sole table bargaining is the best way to achieve our members aspirations and so we have proceeded on this basis. We will send out an update once the pay meeting has taken place, again thank you for your patience and assistance in getting a date for a joint meeting.
