Iarnrod Eireann Pay Update

26 September 2017

TSSA along with the other trade unions return to the Workplace Relations Commission to continue pay talks tomorrow (27/09/17) after a fortnight break.

At the conclusion of our talks a fortnight ago we reminded the company that members deserve a flat percentage pay increase. This is only fair and reasonable when considering your near decade pay freeze and also recognising the sacrifices you have made and the contributions you have made to ensure the safe and efficient running train service during the past difficult years.

It is now time that the company makes a genuine and credible pay offer. The failure to do so will force the union to consider all our options including balloting members for industrial action. As a trade union we must explore all options to achieve what you deserve, a fair and decent pay increase. It is clear that the mood of members is one of losing patience with the company.

We are being constantly told passenger numbers and revenue is on the up. It just is not good enough then for the company not to offer a decent pay increase.

The company has been forewarned, if it fails to step up to the plate as we enter another round of pay talks we will be looking to members to demonstrate clearly that we will not take this lying down.

The company needs to do the right thing by its loyal and hardworking staff and delivery a proper pay increase.

We will keep members updated after the next round of pay talks of any further developments.
