Scottish Labour Party Conference 2011

11 December 2010

The Scottish Labour Party Conference will be held at the Glasgow Science Centre on Saturday 19th March 2011.

This Conference is one of the highlights of the political year, bringing together party members, members of affiliated trade unions, socialist societies and elected politicians from across Scotland.

Based upon existing TSSA membership in Scotland, the Association will be entitled to send 3 delegates to the Conference. As usual, one seat is allocated to the General Secretary or his nominated representative, whilst the remaining two seats will be open to Branch nomination, albeit one of those two nominees must be a woman.

Nominations are therefore invited from Scottish Branches with for the two remaining seats, one of which must be allocated to a woman. Nominees to this Conference must be fully paid up members of the Scottish Labour Party.

Provision is made on the attached form for the nominated person to sign to confirm acceptance of the nomination. If this is not practicable a separate letter of acceptance signed by the nominee, must be received in this office by the closing date for receipt of nominations, i.e. Friday 4th February 2011.

Branches should note that it should be made clear to nominees that acceptance of nomination implies that if elected as a delegate, he/she will act in line with Association policy, i.e. in accordance with that determined by the Executive Committee, or in the last resort and in the absence of guidance from the Executive Committee, in accordance with the judgement of the delegation as to Association policy.
