Agreement has been reached with the Company on the 2011 Pay claim. An improved offer of 2.5% was made at last week’s meeting, and following consultation with members the revised offer has now been accepted.

The full detail of the settlement is as follows:

  • 2.5% increase to basic pay back-dated to 1 Jan 2011
  • 2.5% increase to relevant allowances back-dated to 1 Jan 2011
  • Change of pay anniversary date from 1 January to 1 April

In accepting the offer, your negotiating team reiterated our disappointment at the unacceptable length of time it has taken to reach an agreement. The Company has apologised for the delay, and stated that moving the pay review to 1 April will prevent unnecessary delays in the future.

We have been advised that the salary increase and any back-pay due will be paid in this month’s payroll. The process of calculating and paying back-pay arising from overtime and allowances is more complicated, and will take a further month to apply.

Finally, your staff reps have again done a fantastic job in securing a pay settlement under very difficult circumstances, and I’m sure you will join me in thanking them for their efforts. However, they can only continue to do this with your support and the support of the vast majority of staff in the business. That’s why it is important for you to discuss the contents of this circular with your colleagues, and encourage any non-members to join.
